First off this sony as a co-processor, I know becuase it needs a driver loaded in windows before I could use the finger print reader.
Second, I'm using the stock 2.6.18.8 kernel from OpenSUSe 10.2
Third
I compiled thinkfinger with: ./configure --enable-usb-debug --enable-pam
Fourth
lsusb, out looks like:

What I did not see was how I tell tf-tool where uinpu is located or if I need to do this?
Any ideas?

Thanks,
ERIC

Hello,

Here is a test report of thinkfinger 0.3 on a Debian etch system with a
2.6.18 kernel:

***@heracles:/usr/local/src/thinkfinger-0.3$ lsusb
[...]
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0483:2016 SGS Thomson Microelectronics
Fingerprint Reader
[...]
***@heracles:/usr/local/src/thinkfinger-0.3$ sudo ./tf-tool/tf-tool
--acquire --verbose

ThinkFinger 0.3 (http://thinkfinger.sourceforge.net/)
Copyright (C) 2006, 2007 Timo Hoenig <***@suse.de>

Running in verbose mode.

* Mode: acquire
* Biometric identification record file: '/tmp/test.bir'

Initializing... done.
tf-tool: TF_STATE_COMM_FAILED (0xfe)
Could not acquire fingerprint (communication with fingerprint reader
failed).

Seems like it's better with previous version (the init phase ran
successfully) but it doesn't manage to communicate with te reader.

Any clue?

Thanks!

Did you enable the uinput subsystem in your kernel? This is a new requirement for 0.3.

(Sorry for the top-post and not trimming the original message -- sending this from my handheld)

Cheers, and hope this helps.
