Hi all,

after I have read that this UPEK sensor is a "sensor only" thing, I have
a question: is there already a possibility to gain a image of a
fingerprint (with sane scanner backend?) or is it possible to use maybe
Wine for using the Windows software?

the interesting thing about this sensors is authentication via pam, I
think. I don't know exactly how thinkfinger works, but I also have a
Thinkpad R61 with an "unsupported" 147e:2016 fingerprint reader.

I am wondering if we can get this working somehow, I would be able to
test any beta drivers or something.

This is a new project for the UPEK TouchChip sensor.

It is probably possible to gain a image like in Windows. However, in
order to accomplish that, one would have to sniff the USB traffic under
Windows and pick out the related control messages.
