[Thinkfinger-devel] TF stopped working somewhere between rev 72 and 88

Hi

I felt in need to catch up with the events on the list and update my own
setup and my ArchLinux (AUR) package of thinkfinger from rev 72 to 88.
Well, the subject already sums it up: thinkfinger doesn't work anymore
here. (No luck with rev 86 either)
Tf-tool still works, so this might again be a pam-issue.
Any hints were to start looking for errors on my side?
Feel free to ask for further infos about error logs or configurations.

Evening all,
Sigi

PS: Still testing this on my T43 (w/o p! ;-)

That is the best news. I was almost tempted to skip the reply :-) Just
kidding.

Just for the record: Yes, you are facing a PAM issue.

If you're working on a recent SVN revision you may add the 'debug'
parameter for the PAM module. Just add 'debug' to the line
in /etc/pam.d/common-auth:

auth sufficient pam_thinkfinger.so debug

The PAM module then should be verbose -- just have a look
at /var/log/messages.

That's all I can tell you as I am not familiar with ArchLinux (e.g. if
uinput is set up properly, you may try running 'modprobe uinput').

Thanks,

Timo

Those are good news. It really looks that my commits today to make the
T43p happy did not cause harm for other revision of the chip.

Thanks a lot, modprobing uinput did the trick! TF rev 88 works now. The
updated AUR package is on its way and the info about uinput will be
spread on wiki, Forum and AUR.
