Hello,

I'm using debian etch with self-compiled kernel (2.6.20.7) on a ThinkPad
R60.

When i try to run tf-tool, i get this output:

# tf-tool --verify-user root --verbose

ThinkFinger 0.3 (http://thinkfinger.sourceforge.net/)
Copyright (C) 2006, 2007 Timo Hoenig <***@suse.de>

Running in verbose mode.

* Mode: verify
* Biometric identification record file: '/etc/pam_thinkfinger/root.bir'

Initializing...Could not claim USB device.

syslog output:

Apr 16 17:15:36 ThinkPadR60 kernel: input: Virtual ThinkFinger Keyboard
as /class/input/input7

Any ideas?

Sorry my bad English.

Hi,

i can provide new informations:

when I'm not logged in in X (X11, xdm, enlightenment) thinkfinger works
very well; as soon as I'm logged in, thinkfinger does not work anymore.

Can someone help me?

Let me know if i can provide any other information.

Hi Peter,

Sorry for the delay. All day business kept me busy for a while.

Once logged into X, please run

$ lsof |grep usb

And you probably will see a process which claims the USB device.

If you are unsure what the output of the above command means, just post
it to the list.

Thanks,

Timo
